Can you exactly explain what is the difference between requirement gathering and requirement elicitation.

these references summarize the difference: ref1, ref2, ref3.
But I wouldn’t bother too much. People use the terms interchangeably and/or regard the two terms to be the same. I believe elicitation is most correct as requirements are not ‘waiting’ somewhere to be gathered.
